What late TDS costs
- Interest of 1% a month for deducting late, and 1.5% a month for paying late after deducting.
- A late fee of ₹200 per day for a late return, up to the TDS amount.
- Penalties for not filing at all, and expenses can be disallowed in your own income tax return.
What we do
- Apply for your TAN if you do not have one.
- Check vendor bills and salaries each month and work out TDS at the right rate.
- Prepare the challan for you to pay through net banking.
- File quarterly returns for salary, non-salary and non-resident payments, and TCS returns if applicable. These were Forms 24Q, 26Q and 27Q; from April 2026 they are Forms 138, 140 and 144.
- Issue salary and non-salary TDS certificates (Form 16 and Form 16A, now Forms 130 and 131), and file corrections when a return needs changing.
- Clear default notices from the TDS portal.
- In quarters where you made no deduction, file the declaration on the TDS portal so you do not get default notices.
New Act from April 2026. TDS for payments from 1 April 2026 follows the Income-tax Act, 2025, with new section numbers and forms. We handle the switch for you.

Common questions
I deducted TDS but paid it late. What happens?
Interest at 1.5% a month applies from the date of deduction to the date of payment. Pay as soon as possible, then we include it correctly in the quarterly return.
My vendor says the TDS is not showing in their 26AS. Why?
Usually because the quarterly return has not been filed, or a PAN or challan detail was wrong. We check and file a correction if needed.
Do I need to file a TDS return if I made no deduction in a quarter?
A return is not needed, but filing a declaration on the TDS portal avoids default notices. We do this for our clients.
